When I think of Anita Lobel, I also think of her late husband Arnold Lobel, but this is unfair on my part because she is an illustrator in her own right and has a long list of books to her name. She usually illustrates for others, but since becoming a widow has ventured out, illustrating books she has written. There is a series of picture books about her cat Nini and Hello Day a farmyard book particularly suitable for preschoolers. I pinched this beautiful illustration from her website. I think it is from On Market Street a book written by Arnold for Anita to illustrate, and I would love a poster of it for the library. It is how I feel about books - they should be at the core of everything.
