6th December Kaye Umansky (1946)
When I think of the English author Kaye Umansky I immediately think of witches and Pongwiffy, which is probably unfair because she does write other things like poetry, picture books, other series of novels such as Clover Twig and The Weirds and even music. I was pleased to see her on her website dressed as a witch though, as it added weight to my assumption. Her stories are always fun, rollicking, rhythmic and humorous. It is not hard to imagine her teaching music and drama. The children in my library especially like Kaye's poetry and meet it long before embarking upon her novels.
