5th August International Underwear Day

Besides Book Week, one of the highlights in a Prep School Library is Underwear Day. It makes for a fantastic display. We have toys and books galore and they will all get borrowed. I have written about it before here, here and here, but it really doesn't matter what you display it will go. I have a Pinterest page  too where you'll see all the books the library has. 

We have a toy for the Todd Doodler series about Bear and underwear and several of the books.

 

There are toys for the popular Aliens Love Underpants, Monsters Love Underpants, Pirates Love Underpants and Dinosaurs Love Underpants series  by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort.

 

Giles Andreae and Nick Sharratt have a 'pants' series

There's  Underwear Dragon  by Scott Rothman and Pete Oswald

There's Vegetables in Underwear  and Fruits in Suits  by Jared Chapman.

There are so many colouring and activity sheets online so that your students can design their own underwear. Cut them out,  make a temporary clothesline to hang them on and then read Mrs Vicker's Knickers  by Kara Lebihan. And coming soon Hedgehogs Don't Wear Underwear.

 

5th August Underwear Day

The most popular display in our library is one that features underwear. Every year we put out books about underwear to celebrate this special day and by the end of the day, most will be gone. The children love to borrow them and snicker. The parents aren't as happy, but they can see that the children like the 'naughtiness ' of it all.

The first underwear dates back to prehistoric times — with humans wearing a loincloth.

When you work in a Prep Library, you cannot forget Underwear Day. Books about underwear make 4 to 7 year olds giggle and their parents sigh. There are so many books to go round though, so there is rarely a squabble . This is what the library has on offer.
