Last night I met with Pre-school parents to talk about what to read to their children. It is always exciting hearing about new readers and what they are enjoying. It is also good to be able to share favourites with them that they might not know. Many of the sure-fire success books for preschoolers are now getting on in age. Hard to believe that books such as The Tiger Who Came to Tea; The Hungry Caterpillar; Mr Gumpy's Outing, Corduroy and Where the Wild Things Are are over forty years old. Shirley Hughes' Alfie stories are old but as popular as ever.
