20th April Chinese Language Day


Chinese Language Day - This day was established by the United Nations in 2010 as part of an initiative to promote multilingualism and cultural diversity. The choice of date is associated with the memory of the Chinese writer and philosopher Cang Jie, who is considered the creator of the beautifully written Chinese language.
    This book by Li Jian is part of a collection of books in our library that are bilingual: Chinese and English. They are very popular with parents whose first language is Mandarin. The children of Chinese background recommend them to their friends so they are borrowed by everyone.

There is a series about the Chinese Zodiac with one book for each of the animals.



They have begun to do some of these titles in paperbacks which makes them affordable.

The other thing that the students at school like to do is borrow any of the myriad of books that have Chinese writing in them. They then copy that writing. You can do this with these:
