The Croatian Parliament declared July 10th as Nikola Tesla Day, a day dedicated to science, technology, and innovation. He was a Serbian-American scientist and inventor born in 1856 in modern-day Croatia, who largely contributed to scientific progress and technological advancements. Tesla is credited with the discovery of the rotating magnetic field, the invention of the famous Tesla coil and alternating-current (AC) electricity. After moving to the United States, he began working with Thomas Edison, both agreeing to finance Tesla’s electric lighting company.
Students love the idea that Tesla got a shock when he rubbed his cat's fur and it was that spark that sent his imagination off on the electricity adventure.
