10th October Handbag Day

Really, do we need a day for handbags? It seems we do. Read about the history of this day here. What's in your handbag? Treasures?

There are alternative words such as 'purse', but do you know the word 'reticule'?  Of course you could celebrate this day by buying a new handbag, but an even better way is to share some of these fun stories with children.

or you can suggest you make a bag of treasures like grandma does or Archie does in

I remember when the original  My Mommy's Tote and My Granny's Purse by P.H. Hanson were published and children I knew just loved taking everything out of the bags and then putting them back. Get crafty...make one of your own!
