Paul Fleischman, like his father Sid has won the Newbery Medal, but in my library he is known for his picture books, in particular Weslandia which also got a mention on Kevin Hawkes' birthday. I particularly like Glass Slipper Golden Sandal; a Worldwide Cinderella, because it addresses the large number of Cinderella stories there are worldwide and gives me an excuse to get them all out and read them. The Dunderheads, his newest picture book, is a departure from what I have come to expect, but it made the shortlist for this year's Kate Greenaway Medal.
